The Port of Holyhead is located at the far west of the Isle of Anglesey in North Wales. Stena Line, Europe's biggest ferry company, operates from the port as do Irish Ferries. The freight crossing to Dublin and Dún Laoghaire in Ireland forms the principal link for transport from central and northern England and Wales to Ireland.
The ferry and freight port run conventional, super and high speed ro-ro ferries to Dublin and Dun Laoghaire in the Republic of Ireland. Conventional ferries take about 3.5 hours for the crossing, whereas the high-speed craft can take as little as 1.5 hours.
It is the only port with direct travel by sea to and from Dublin City, making it convenient for travel to or from the North of England, North Wales or the Midlands. Holyhead is one of the UK's busiest ferry ports.
Getting There by Road
There are excellent road connections to and from London and the South East. The Port is situated near to Holyhead Town Centre, and is reached by following the A5 from the Midlands, or by the A55 from Chester. Once you reach the Town Centre, follow the signs to the Ferries.
